Entertainment tax halved for Pazhassiraja

Government has given a 50% entertainment tax concession to the producers of forthcoming magnum opus Pazhassi Raja, the costliest Malayalam film till date being made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil with a whopping budget of over Rs. 25 crores.
Pazhassi Raja will have to pay only 12.5% as tax in corporation areas where entertainment tax on Malayalam films is 25%. In municipalities and panchayats also, where the tax is 20% and 10% respectively, the tax will be reduced by half. After the government reduced the tax, the producers have withdrawn their plea to increase the ticket rates.
