Release of the much-awaited film Pazhassi Raja has been postponed once again as the producers failed to get approval from the government for their proposal to hike the ticket price for the first three days.
The release date will be finalised only after obtaining sanction from the State Government in this regard.
“The High Court has already passed a judgement in our favour with regard to the charge hike. Now, we need sanction from the State Government for the proposed hike. Then only we will finalise the date of release,” said Sree Gokulam Movies manager G Harilal.
Pazhassi Raja, a historical magnum opus, is likely to be an avantgarde film. Written by M T Vasudevan Nair, one of the best writers in India, and directed by veteran Hariharan, the movie has already received a huge publicity with Mammootty playing the title role and Tamil action hero Sarath Kumar playing the role of his deputy.
The film will be dubbed into three other Indian languages - Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
The expectations over the movie peaked following reports that Kamal Haasan and Shahrukh Khan would be introducing Pazhassi Raja to the audience through a minute-long prologue in the Tamil and Hindi versions respectively. The voice over for the Malayalam original has been done by Mohanlal.
The movie was originally scheduled for release on September 18 and then it postponed to Oct 2 and now to 16.
But, it was postponed as dubbing of the Hindi version was not completed.
More than 500 prints of the movie have been readied for release. Pazhassi Raja will be released in major cities around the world, making it the first Malayalam movie to have a global release.
